After causing Australia’s greatest ironic media fuss, Beaconsfield: The Musical* is BACK!

Beaconsfield; The Musical* is a savage look at the media circus surrounding the 2006 mine disaster. Brandt, Todd, Eddie, Naomi, Mel, Carlton, Koshie and even that prick Bill Shorten star in what can only be described as the feel-good pisstake of the year! Beaconsfield: The Musical* is a little bit Disney, a little bit Webber, and whole lot of Macquarie Bank. It's scathing, silly, and very, very, funny.

This limited Sydney run of the show will be raising money for the production to tour to the Adelaide Fringe, Melbourne Comedy Festival and Launceston.

Staring Kate McLennan (The Mansion, Debutant Diaries), Robbie McGregor (Voice of SBS, Comedy Channel), Toby Truslove (Comicide, This Is Your Laugh), Amanda Buckley (iMpro3 Suffle), Dan Ilic (Ronnie Johns, 9am) and special guest voice over by Mike Goldman (Big Brother). Written by Dan Ilic. Composed by Nigel Ubrihien (BIlly Elliot, Phantom) and directed by Luke Joslin (Guys and Dolls, Dirty Dancing).

(*Formally known as Beaconsfield: A musical in a-flat minor)

BEACONSFIELD @ FRINGE: Adelaide Advertiser, March 16, 2009
"It does make some very pertinent points about media exploitation of tragedy and grief, but most of the audience weren't thinking about that.
They were laughing too much. '

BEACONSFIELD RIGHT ON TARGET: Herald Sun, Oct 9, 2008
'Rather than lampooning Todd Russell and Brant Webb ... the show's real targets turn out to be far more deserving of satirical darts. Bill 'next prime minister' Shorten, Eddie McGuire, Naomi Robson, David Koch - all cop repeated blasts.'

PANNING FOR COMEDY GOLD: The Age, October 10, 2008
"Ilic and his gang are far more interested in panning for comedy gold amid the race for ratings gold. And, judging by the cacophony of laughs, the have struck it...packed with punchines...slick, pacy, musical comedy"

THE GROGGY SQUIRREL: October 11, 2008
"Beaconsfield was a brilliant show that had the audience howling at every line....this was one highly polished piece of musical theatre/comedy."

ARTS HUB: October 12, 2008
"A riotous hour of musical comedy, the show had audiences rolling with laughter for its clever and insightful take-off of Australian media - particularly ironic considering its controversial beginnings...Clever, funny and with a frighteningly accurate satirical insight into commercial television media, Beaconsfield: The Musical is the indictment of Australian media that you can't help but love."
